Warriors qualify for the 2025 Afcon finals after playing a 1-1 draw against Kenya

ZIMBABWE booked its place at the 2025 AFCON tournament to be played in Morroco after playing a 1-1 draw against Kenya at Peter Mokaba Stadium, Friday evening.

The Warriors joined Cameroon as the second and final team from Group J to qualify for the prestigious continental tournament.

Zimbabwe walked into the match and only needed a draw, which they got, thanks to goalkeeper Washington Arubi’s final-minute saves, which prevented Kenya from winning.

Harambee Stars needed a win before their next game against Namibia and had to hope that Zimbabwe would lose to Cameroon in their final match, but their hopes were dashed by the South Africans.

The result confirms Kenya’s elimination from the continental tournament set to be held in Morocco.

The game marked a significant milestone for Zimbabwean football, as the Warriors secured a spot at AFCON for the first time since 2019. This achievement comes on the back of a remarkable comeback from a FIFA ban imposed due to political interference.

Zimbabwe’s Khama Billiat, who had recently returned from international retirement, was instrumental in the match, providing an assist for Tawanda Maswanhise’s opener.
